The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is currently undergoing a $200 million renovation, but we are happy to report that the renovation of the Mauna Kea Golf Course is already complete for 2025! Already hailed as one of the top courses in the state, be one of the first to play the course with it’s newly upgraded fairways, redesigned bunkers, and pristine putting greens. Golf fanatics rejoice!

Looking for the perfect oceanfront dining option to enjoy sunset on the Big Island? Located on the shoreline of Kailua Kona, grab a table on the outdoor patio at Aloha Vibes and select from some of the best cocktails using fresh local ingredients. With drink selections like the Mac Nut Old Fashion, Mamaki Rumgroni, and Starfruit Highball, how can you go wrong?
Sean's Kitchen:
If craving Japanese food, swing by Sean’s Kitchen also located in Kailua Kona. This new eatery on the Island of Hawaii offers a selection of sushi rolls, bento plates, noodle dishes and more. Save room for their popular dessert of fried bananas and ice cream.
The Theatery:
Quickly climbing to the top of best Big Island restaurant lists is this relatively new dining option located next door to Aloha Theater in Kainaliu (hence the name). The renovated space offers both indoor and outdoor dining with mouthwatering menu selections.
Hawaii Drag Racing League Event:
For those interested in loud engines and burnt rubber, you may be surprised to find out that the Island of Hawaii has a drag racing league. Watch motor enthusiasts across the state of Hawaii race their modified cars, trucks, and motorcycles against each other to record the fastest quarter mile time. Events are held monthly throughout the year.
Kiluea Erupting:
At the start of 2025 we have seen a lot of activity with Kiluea volcano. If planning a trip to the Big Island, be sure to check the Volcanoes National Park website to see if there have been any active lava flows, fountains, night glows, or fissures that may increase your chances of seeing a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
